"We could go on and beat the rest and then be even more frustrated at how we started this championship. But there's no use talking about that now; it's gone, and we have to start moving on," Walker told the Scotsmand.
"It's not like it's new, sadly. We've been here before, under-performed in the earlier parts of the tournament, and started playing as the tournament has gone on and we'll have to do that again. We have a big couple of weeks ahead of us. After a game like that on Saturday the players would rather get back on the pitch as soon as possible and get that performance out of the system. But I think the best thing for us is to have a couple of weeks to get things right.
"The timings were out on plays, we didn't do anything at 100 per cent, the deliveries off lineouts, off scrums, little timings that make a huge difference.
"We started chasing the game too early, playing loose rugby, and that's not the game that suits us. Watching that game back you wouldn't know what our tactics were. We talked about not standing off James (Hook] and for Shane's (Williams] first try, we did just that and he took it. He's a world-class player and he exploits that, and we were certainly punished for it. We then had a period battering their line when they were down to 13 men and they did well to hold us out, but we lacked composure and patience.
"It was a real surprise because we've been building and playing quite well, where Wales were the opposite, but on the day they just seemed a bit more desperate. I'm embarrassed by what we produced against Wales, but the games to come don't worry me because I know we're capable of much, much better."
