That occasion was a proud moment for the club's talismanic figure, who revealed that donning the famous kilt and showcasing the new strip for the first time were moments that reinforce why he now calls Scotland 'home'.
He said: "Edinburgh Rugby, the city and the fans have been fantastic to me. I have achieved so much thanks to the support from everyone connected to this club.
"It's an honour to play for Edinburgh Rugby, for Scotland and to wear this kilt. I feel at home here and that played a huge part in me signing a new three-year contract extension last season, as well as the fact that I firmly believe this is a club going places.
"Today's photo is a bit of fun to help launch a great new shirt but it's also symbolic of the part this country has played in my rugby career, something which I take very seriously when I play for Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland."
Turning his attention to the new shirt, Visser added: "I love the new shirt design. It's really striking and the quality of the Macron kit is superb. I'm really looking forward to pulling it on for the first time."
As one of the most prolific scorers in the modern game, with 43 touchdowns in 74 Edinburgh Rugby appearances, and two from two for Scotland, it was fitting that Visser was supported at today's photo-shoot by regular score-supplier, Nick De Luca; the creative influence in so many of the his colleague's touchdowns.
On seeing the new team kit for the first time, De Luca, who also extended his contract last season, said: "I love the new jersey. Macron clearly take a lot of time and care over our shirt, taking account of our feedback on the technical side while making sure we have a shirt that sets us apart from the other teams in the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup.
"It's a bold shirt and I think it matches the bold ambitions and targets we've set ourselves this season."
The home strip reinterprets the club's famous black and red colours with an explosive extension of the badge to illustrate the passion of the fans and the players through the garment.
The logo of main Edinburgh Rugby sponsor, Aberdeen Asset Management, returns to the front of the new shirt for the fifth year of supporting the team.
Technical features include mesh inserts on the flank, to allow the players to breath under maximum intensity, and a silicon elastic band around the bottom hem, to grip the shorts and make it more difficult for opponents to snag and stretch the top.
Replica shirts are characterised by a standard fit of the players' top, with embroidered club badge.
Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, said: "Macron are very pleased with the new kit, developed to represent the prestige and history of Edinburgh Rugby.
"Our relationship is an important collaboration that helps us to grow the brand's visibility in the rugby field on the European stage.
"It is a great opportunity for Macron to show its commitment and strong professional approach in technical sportswear for rugby."
Edinburgh Rugby unveil the kit to fans at the club's open evening at Murrayfield tonight (Wednesday 1 August) and will wear the new shirt for the first time at Kingston Park, when they face Newcastle Falcons on Friday 17 August (kick-off 7.45pm), before its first home outing against Northampton Saints the following Friday (24 August, kick-off 7.30pm).
