"I was pleased enough (with the scrum), it's still a work in progress," said Ross,
"It's only our second time scrummaging together as a pack. There' are positives, but also things we can work on ourselves."
"Thing will come with familiarity with each other. You can take positives but at the end of the day we lost. When you represent your country you simply do not want to lose.
"We felt that we beat ourselves a little bit with our discipline. We will look at the video and see what to improve and take it from there.
"You saw what the French did to the Scottish scrum last, they are a very good pack but we were happy enough with today but we know we can improve and step up.
"When you look at Scottish scrum I was surprised what happened to them, they have some good test level props and it is going to be tough against them."
