The move away from a regular league season to a Play-Off finale brought huge excitement, with so many of the then 10 teams still hopeful of a top-four spot right up until the final few weeks of the season.
We then witnessed two titanic battles in the semi-finals in Wales and Ireland, with the Ospreys edging pasting the year's surprise package, Glasgow Warriors, in Swansea before league leaders Leinster saw off reigning champions Munster in Dublin.
Those results led to a mouth-watering Grand Final at the RDS where the top two seeds met to decide who would be crowned Celtic Kings for a record third time.
And while the bookies had the home side down as pre-match favourites, it was the visitors who tasted glory thanks to tries from Tommy Bowe and Lee Byrne in the Irish capital.
