Edwards was far from impressed with what he saw from the Devon outfit and he's vowed that his side will catch the eye en route to victory on Sunday.
"There were no line breaks, no threats, just a huge kicking game. It's pretty boring rugby but in fairness it is winning rugby," said Edwards.
"Sunday is a massive game for us now and we are desperate to do well in Europe, but I see no reason why we shouldn't be confident of turning the tables on Exeter.
"I think a lack of belief was the main reason we didn't get anything from that game. We started poorly and it was too late before we realised we are capable of beating a side that are third in the Aviva Premiership.
"All you need against a side that play in the style that Exeter do is intensity and we lacked that, especially early on."
