A few home truths were aired in the squad's post-match review of the 17-14 Heineken Cup defeat last weekend and the omens aren't good for Nigel Davies' side in the return match.
The Scarlets have not beaten the Irish side in 13 attempts while Munster are unbeaten at home in the Heineken Cup for the last 15 games.
However, Lamont believes his team can shock their RaboDirect PRO12 rivals at Thomond Park if they learn from their mistakes from last week.
"Everyone knows on the field when you have played well and when you haven't and when you haven't, you have to make amends the following week," said the 30-year-old.
"Basically, the review highlighted where we had chances and where we missed them.
"We need to be more clinical. Everyone knows it and it was pointed out at the debrief.
"Munster are an extremely good side and they did to us what they do. They controlled the breakdown very well and were able to slow down our ball, but it was all about fine margins.
"That is the Heineken Cup and that is the beauty of it. We know we have got to step it up at a tough place to play rugby.
"But I don't think Munster are a million miles away from us."
Lamont makes his 50th appearance for the region but his fellow wing George North has failed to recover from a dead leg and has to make to do with a place on the bench.
Munster meanwhile welcome back Ireland centre Keith Earls with flanker Denis Leamy and lock Donncha O'Callaghan also starting as part of three changes from the side that was victorious at Parc y Scarlets.
