And Smith, who has seen his side fail to rack up a RaboDirect PRO12 victory since September, believes the Dragons must keep the Warriors penned back in their own half if all that is to change.
"We just cannot afford to give [Weir] the opportunities that he had in Glasgow," said Smith.
"Weir was superb and kicked everything but we haven't been the only ones to suffer. He has been pretty consistent throughout the season and is definitely one of their main weapons.
"We know that even 40 metres out we cannot afford to give away penalties and we have been working hard on our discipline in training, hopefully that will be put into action on Sunday."
