That victory sparked an impressive four-game winning streak in the league that saw them rise to the heady heights of fifth in the table.
Franco Smith's men have now claimed away scalps in Ulster and Connacht to go with their Firhill upset and Burton is hungry for more as the season progresses.
"At the start of the season we sat down as a team and targeted more success in our away fixtures," said the 31-year-old.
"So from that perspective the way we have begun this season is very pleasing, we've had to take our chances when they have come about and ride our luck at times but we've also been unlucky in some of our defeats, that's just the way it goes.
"Last time out against Connacht we knew it was going to be important to get the win to stop the rot of our recent form domestically.
"We need to keep taking it one game at a time and if, come the end of the season, that puts us in with a shout of the playoffs then that's fantastic.
"But we are not getting ahead of ourselves, we're sixth at the moment but we know how easily that can change."
Coming up next for the Green and Whites is a double header against Italian rival outfit Aironi, a fixture that Burton admits is about so much more than just league position.
"Of course these are big games for the league but it's also a chance to claim the bragging rights in Italy," he added.
"There are always big crowds out, like any derby in Europe, and the public get very involved which can only be a good thing for the sport in this country.
"For two weeks over the Christmas period the best players in Italy go as hard as they can against each other and we need to make sure we are focused on each game at a time, starting with this Friday when we go to their place."
