Harrison has not played for Glasgow since the Heineken Cup match against Toulouse in France two months ago. "He's got big shoes to fill," Hugh Campbell, Glasgow's head coach, commented about the prop change. "Euan has been playing well."
Murray is suspended until 2 February after having been sent off in the league match against Llanelli in mid-November, though he has played three games for Glasgow since then while an appeal was pending. "Everyone feels for Euan. There'll be a determination to put in extra effort on Monday," the coach added.
Monday's match will be the 142nd in the Inter-City series, which began in 1872. Edinburgh have won 70 of the previous games and Glasgow 50, with 21 drawn. Glasgow's fiftieth win was when they beat Edinburgh 10-7 in their September encounter at Old Anniesland.
Since then, Glasgow have climbed to fourth place in the league table whereas Edinburgh are second from the foot of the ladder. However, the coach discounted those standings as a guide. "You have to throw the formbook out for these games. Everyone knows each other so well," he remarked.
