After a tense final round of pool games which saw 15 teams still in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, Munster and Cardiff Blues emerged as winners of their respective pools.
Munster had to overcome reigning champions London Wasps to secure their top spot whilst Cardiff Blues emphatic victory over Bristol was the first time their hosts had been held scoreless in a game in any competition at the Memorial Stadium.
Ospreys first ever victory away in France saw them progress as one of the two best runners up whilst in Scotland Glasgow Warriors had their best European campaign for a decade and were unfortunate not to progress through to the knockout stages.
David Jordan said "I would like to congratulate Munster, Cardiff Blues and Ospreys on their achievements in the Heineken Cup competition so far. Their performances have consolidated the standing of the Magners League, having three quarter finalists for the second year running, and again delivering two pool winners. I would like to wish everyone connected with the teams success in their future endeavours as they aim to reach the last four and beyond."
