The 21-year-old said: "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity. Hopefully I'll go out there and impress. It's nice to get the chance to try to prove myself against good opposition and against a good hooker in Ross Ford.
"There's a feelgood factor at Stradey now and it'll be a lot easier for me to step into a winning team than a losing one. Hopefully I can bring something extra to the pack."
Scarlets head coach Nigel Davies has prepared his squad for a stern challenge in Edinburgh.
The West Wales Region has traditionally had difficulty with Magners trips to the Scots capital but they approach kick-off this time with a 2008-09 record of played three, won three.
The close focus being applied to each individual game is being carried on at Murrayfield, Davies told a Stradey Park press conference today.
He said: "It was important to have a good start to the season - this has underpinned the work we did pre-season and means the squad's feeling good and the players are feeling good about themselves.
"Having said the, we realise that Edinburgh is a massive game for us and if we don't get it right up there then a lot of the work we did last week could be wasted.
"We've got to keep our focus on what we're doing and keep our focus on the mentality that we've tried to set within this group - but it's been a lot easier coming off the back of the week we've just had.
"We don't have a very good record against Edinburgh and have an awful record up there. We've spoken about that and we're trying to approach the game differently to how it's been done in the past. It's a big event for us, a big ask."
The Scarlets are without the injured Simon Easterby, Simon Maling, Deacon Manu, Mark Jones and Mahonri Schwalger. In the pack Scott MacLeod and Josh Turnbull get chances to impress, and on the bench Kiwi centre Regan King is looking for gametime after being nursed back to fitness.
