The session, which concentrated on key areas of the game, culminated with contact play against an enthusiastic Cross Keys outfit.
Head Coach Paul Turner was pleased with the support received from Cross Keys RFC and the effort demonstrated by the Newport Gwent Dragons squad. He commented:
"We're grateful to Robert Beale and the Cross Keys team for their support at last night's training session. It gets frustrating trying to prepare for our league games with limited fixtures available to us and I felt it necessary to introduce contact rugby into our mid-week training session.
"The boys responded admirably to the change of environment and training structure and it was a beneficial evening for both the Dragons and Cross Keys."
Cross Keys play Swansea at St Helens in the Principality Premiership on Saturday 12 April, kick-off 5.00pm. Director of Rugby Robert Beale added:
"It was an extremely valuable session for both sides. From a Cross Keys perspective it allowed our players a direct insight into what is expected of players in terms of fitness and conditioning at professional level and the boys welcomed the experience.
He continued: "There was an obvious feel-good factor around the club yesterday evening and, speaking to the Dragons coaches after the session, I was pleased with the value placed on training such as this within the region. It's most definitely something that we would welcome at Cross Keys in the future."
