The 28-year-old Scotland internationalist, who hoping to make Sean Lineen's starting XV ahead of the deciding leg of the 1872 Challenge Cup, said after his ascent: "I can't wait for the game. It's always a big occasion when Glasgow and Edinburgh come together in a derby and there is plenty to play for this year.
"We're pretty close in the table and the outcome of next week's game could determine not only who wins the 1872 Cup, but who finishes as the top Scottish team in Magners League."
Edinburgh are only six points ahead of Glasgow in the Magners League so a win for the Warriors could determine who finishes highest in the table
