Blues need to win both of their remaining games, at least one with maximum points, and hope that Leinster's opponents will deny the Irish province any match points from their outstanding fixtures for the Welsh region to have any chance of pipping Leinster to the title.
Leinster on the other hand need just two match points, or less if Cardiff Blues drop match points in Connacht on Friday evening, to secure the trophy. Should the Blues not win, the title is Leinster's.
At the other end of the table Ulster's victory over Munster has pulled them eight points clear of bottom side Connacht, just three more match points, or a reversal for Connacht, will secure Heineken Cup rugby at Ravenhill next season.
The challenge for the Heineken Cup play off spot now appears to be between Connacht and Newport Gwent Dragons, the Welsh Region being five match points clear with a game in hand over their rivals.
