After recording their best ever finish in the Magners League (fourth place), there was an instant response from Edinburgh's fans towards renewing their season tickets for the 2008/2009 campaign.
That level of interest has increased further following the summer arrivals of Scotland internationalists Chris Paterson and Jim Hamilton.
Edinburgh also offered special incentives designed to encourage supporters to buy their season tickets early including an opportunity to train with the squad.
That offer was met with another positive reaction which led to a surge in season ticket sales which currently stands at a total of 1035.
Edinburgh have been monitoring season ticket sales with the help of a special thermometer on the front page of their official site which has now reached 'boiling point'.
Cartwright, who joined Edinburgh last summer, said: "We are delighted with the response shown by our supporters which underlines the growth of Edinburgh; both on and off the pitch.
"Last season not only did we achieve our best ever finish in the Magners League and also defeat Leicester Tigers and Leinster in the Heineken Cup.
"But we also managed to pull in a crowd of over 6,000 for our 1872 Challenge Cup match against Glasgow Warriors in late December; that was our best ever crowd in the Magners League.
"Next season everyone associated with the club plans to build on the success we've achieved over the past nine months and Edinburgh is a very exciting place to be right now."
Edinburgh kick off the 2008/2009 season with a high profile friendly match against newly crowned English champions London Wasps at Murrayfield on Saturday 23 August (kick off 2.30pm).
