The 29-year-old, who is of Irish and Greek Cypriot heritage, will add some much-needed experience to a Blues side reeling from the departures of Gareth Williams to retirement and Rhys Thomas to London Wasps.
And Kyriacou insists he can't wait to reap the benefits of the home crowd after Cardiff ended their three-year stint at the Cardiff City Stadium.
"I have always found the Arms Park is a tough place to come and play. The atmosphere is fantastic. It's quite intimidating for the opposition," he told the South Wales Echo.
"The Cardiff City Stadium didn't quite have that same buzz. Coming back to the Arms Park is a massive thing and we really need to make that something which can add to our performances.
"We need to bring the fans with us on what we want to do and use that atmosphere to our advantage. You could sense during that Ulster match last season that everyone in the Blues team had lifted their game and there was that little something extra. I think that was purely the emotion of being back in this place and long may it continue.
"I'll be looking to bring that through and do anything I can to help give the team a good platform and a good place to play off.
"We have one of the most exciting back lines in the league and, with Phil Davies coming on board and coaching up front, we should hopefully put the meat on the bones. The aim will be to create a good platform to get some fast rugby played."
