Both Edinburgh and Cardiff Blues have 17 points with one match remaining but the Welsh side top the pile thanks to their superior head-to-head record although should the Scots achieve a better result against London Irish, they would be guaranteed qualification.
And while it means the mathematicians are sure to be busy this weekend, Godman wants to leave Edinburgh's qualification in no doubt - and he believes Murrayfield will be jumping on Sunday.
"We've put ourselves in a great position to progress to the last eight in front of our home support," said Godman.
"It's fantastic to be here but we're not taking anything for granted. We've a big week ahead of us to ensure we're prepared for another huge challenge.
"Sunday will be a massive day for Edinburgh Rugby. I'd encourage all fans of rugby in Scotland to come along and help us earn our place among Europe's elite.
"If ever there was a time to come and try out a professional rugby game or introduce a friend to Edinburgh Rugby, it's this Sunday."
