Glasgow claimed the 1872 Cup, that marks one of the oldest sporting rivalries in the world, for the fourth time in five seasons, and extended their club-record unbeaten run in the RaboDirect PRO12 to eight games in the process.
Warriors managing director, Nathan Bombrys, told www.glasgowwarriors.org: "On behalf of everyone at the club, I'd like to offer sincere thanks and appreciation to the fans who come along to Firhill and made the 1872 Cup derby such a special occasion.
"The atmosphere inside the stadium was absolutely tremendous and I know from speaking to the players that it gave them a massive lift.
"Attracting a sell-out crowd underlines the appetite and passion for rugby that exists in Glasgow and the west of Scotland. With the move to Scotstoun Stadium on the horizon, and a healthy number of signings and re-signings already secured, 2012 promises to be a truly exciting year for the Warriors and we want to take our people with us.
"Since taking on my new role just over a month ago, I've been blown away by the goodwill and enthusiasm that the public in the west have for the Warriors right now. On and off the pitch, we're determined to keep giving our supporters a team and club to be proud of."
Glasgow fans don't have long to wait for their next taste of top-end fare, reigning Heineken Cup champions Leinster due at Firhill on Sunday 15 January for a crunch Pool 3 battle.
With the Warriors still pursuing knock-out European rugby, the game promises to be one of the biggest ever matches staged on Glaswegian soil.
