At a disciplinary hearing in Dublin today Simon Picone, the Benetton Treviso back row player, avoided further sanction following his red card in the match against Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday 7 January 2012.
The independent RaboDirect PRO12 disciplinary committee chaired by Roger Morris (Wales), assisted by Mark McParland and Dr Barry O'Driscoll (both Ireland) ruled that the red card had been correctly awarded for dangerously charging an opponent but, having viewed the video of the incident and considered the other evidence and representations from the player, decided that no further sanction was appropriate.
However, Simon Picone was reprimanded and warned as to future conduct.
