And having put Edinburgh to the sword at Murrayfield a week ago in the RaboDirect PRO12 , Ulster were again in fine form, Andrew Trimble scoring two first-half tries and scrum-half Paul Marshall adding a third try in the second half.
Captain Johann Muller said: "That was definitely one of our best performances in terms of taking our chances and the passion we showed.
"Ravenhill is always a good place for us to play, and the atmosphere tonight was outstanding. The boys delivered a great performance.
"We said at half-time that the bonus point was on, and it was about being patient. We knew it might take 81 or 82 minutes, and the boys never stopped.
"But it doesn't mean anything unless we get some points in Clermont. We have to make sure we do what we have to do."
Elsewhere the Ospreys bounced back from their 21-20 derby defeat to the Dragons as they overcame Treviso 44-17, Ashley Beck scoring two tries, with the Italians also conceding two penalty tries.
Finally Edinburgh put their RaboDirect PRO12 worries behind them with a 27-24 win over Racing Metro in Paris to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.
