The Welsh region have won their last two RaboDirect PRO12 games and with lock Luke Charteris also back from international duty Edwards is looking to make it a hat-trick.
But after a paltry 15 tries in 15 league games so far this season it is the return of Chavhanga that is exciting the Dragons boss.
He told Campaign Series: "It's a real boost to have him back. He has unbelievable pace and that provides a nice balance to our side alongside the power of Aled Brew and Andy Tuilagi.
"We erred on the side of caution bringing him back from injury because he is key to us having a strong finish to the season.
"If the Scarlets win their games we won't catch them but we just have to look after ourselves and see where that puts us. In this league you get what you deserve."
With Ireland facing a re-arranged trip to France in the Six Nations on Sunday, Edwards is taking no chances against the depleted Munstermen and has warned his side against complacency.
He added: "Even without their internationals they are a very tough team to break down, as their win against Cardiff Blues last week showed.
"Munster have created a winning habit over a number of years and they have the ability to stay in the game, which means we have to be more clinical.
"I think that we've done well against them recently because we go at them with their own game. We take it to them physically and the boys enjoy the big occasion and taking on a European heavyweight.
"Games against Munster are always exciting and the boys respond to that."
