The 25-year-old second row will return to action for the Blues against Glasgow at Firhill tonight after admitting he faces a fight to regain his place in the Wales side for this summer's tour of Australia.
But Burnell, who also welcomes back fellow internationals Jamie Roberts and Leigh Halfpenny, expects Davies to pick up where he left off.
"He's a professional player who knows the difference between right and wrong," said Burnell. "He made an error. He got penalised for it.
"I certainly don't need to sit down with him and point out that you can't lift people up in the air and drop them on their head. Is it an issue for me? No it isn't.
"It was an incident he had to pay the price for and what a penalty to miss out on a Grand Slam. He knows that.
"He's a breath of fresh air. He's a bubbly character and I see him as a bit of a natural leader.
"He's come in this week and led the lineouts.
"When you've got someone like that coming back it lifts the environment."
