All Black World Cup-winning lock Brad Thorn is targeting making his RaboDirect PRO12 debut against the Ospreys after having his first run-out in a Leinster shirt.
Thorn was playing in an interprovincial match for a Leinster XV against Connacht A as the Dubliners came out resounding 50-0 winners.
At 37 years young, Thorn might not be as mobile around the pitch as he once was but is still every bit as abrasive in the tight quarters.
And having got his first taste of Leinster action, Thorn is desperate for more with the Ospreys due to visit the RDS in a pivotal RaboDirect PRO12 play-off clash on March 23.
"I came to help out. I have goals that I want to achieve. I haven't played since February 4. I would love to have a run against Ospreys," Thorn told the Irish Herald.
"My philosophy is I am here to serve in any way I can.
"It was just about getting a hit out. In 40 minutes, I got to hit a few rucks, make a few rusty tackles, a bit of scrummaging, a bit of lineout work. I got what I wanted out of it.
"I said the other day that the World Cup final seems like half a lifetime ago. I have had four months in Japan, which was a great experience.
"Rugby is rugby. The role of the tighthead lock doesn't change too much no matter where you go. It is the tight stuff. It isn't too flashy. I am not really a guy who scores 50m tries."
