Hibbard has started all three of the Ospreys' games this season but they have slumped to defeats against Treviso, Ulster and Glasgow Warriors.
A trip to Llanelli is next up for the Swansea-based outfit and despite the high-flying Scarlets sitting in first spot in the RaboDirect PRO12 table Hibbard insists that they will not have it all their own way on Friday night.
Despite his side currently occupying 11th place in the league, the Welsh international is also backing his team to be in with a shout of defending their title next May but admits that improvements must happen soon.
"We are as disappointed as anyone with what's happened," Hibbard told Wales Online.
"It's totally not the start we were looking for. We wanted to make a good defence of our title.
"That said, it's far from over yet. It's all about finishing in the top four - that still isn't beyond us.
"We haven't gone overnight from champions to a side who can't play rugby.
"We need to play twice as well as we played against Glasgow. We weren't good enough and we want to put it right.
"We want to do it for our supporters. After three defeats, we want to do something for the people who come and back us. We want to give them the bragging rights."
