STAR SCARLETS PULL IN THE CROWDS AT END OF SEASON ROADSHOW

Scarlets stars have taken time out of their busy training schedules to visit schools and clubs in their region this week in the build-up to the big battle against Munster at Parc y Scarlets this weekend (Saturday 21st April kick-off 6.30pm).

On Tuesday (17th April) the Scarlets heroes and Wales internationals Morgan Stoddart, Rob McCusker and Lou Reed visited a number of schools in West Wales with the Scarlets roadshow heading to Haverfordwest RFC in the early evening.

A number of the club's junior sides had the opportunity to participate in a skills session and face their heroes on the rugby field. Grand Slam stars George North, Scott Williams, Ken Owens and Scarlets prop Rhodri Jones passed on their expertise and knowledge to the region's future talent much to the delight of the crowds.

And there's another chance in a lifetime for Scarlets supporters in the Amman Valley to meet another group of the Scarlets' international heroes with Rhys Priestland, Stephen Jones, Jon Davies and Matthew Rees all heading to Ammanford RFC tomorrow (Thursday 19th April) for an early evening skills session and autograph signing session with junior supporters from 5pm-7pm.

It will be a chance for supporters in the area to say farewell and thank you to one of the Scarlets most loyal servants - Stephen Jones, the Scarlets leading point scorer and Wales' most capped player who will be leaving Parc y Scarlets at the end of this season after 15 years wearing the Scarlets jersey. His last game at Parc y Scarlets will be Saturday 5th May when the Scarlets take on the Cardiff Blues in the final game of the league season with the play-off final four place still in sight.

The experienced 34 year-old outside half and star of Wales and the British Lions has appeared in Scarlets colours an impressive 313 times and is the region's highest ever point scorer with 2850 points to date.

As one of the club's most popular and dedicated players said, he said that the spirit, support and passion of the rugby communities in South and West Wales has been something unique and inspiring throughout his time as a Scarlet.

He said: "It's been a huge part of my life being a Scarlet - starting when I was 18 and now leaving when I'm 34 and apart from a couple of years in France its where I've grown up as a rugby player. I've been delighted to be part of Scarlets Rugby throughout and it has been an honour to pull on the shirt every single time.

"I feel very privileged to have been part of club for so many years and particularly seen the new era arrive for the Scarlets, being part of a team that has so many exciting new players coming through and now achieving international honours. I am very grateful for all the support I have been given by our supporters in West Wales and it's always great to meet people at our clubs and thank them in person for their support.

"There is a thriving community game in our region and we should recognise the great job that many of the volunteers do at grassroots level to inspire the next generation of rugby supporters and players."

Open to all come along and meet the stars of the Scarlets team and Wales' Six Nations campaign. Scarlets stars Tavis Knoyle and Rhodri Williams will also be meeting rugby youngsters at Amman United on Thursday evening from 5-7pm.

The Scarlets Roadshow will be in Ammanford and Amman United on Thursday 19thApril.
