The highest crowd of the season turned out for Friday night's PRO12 derby match against Newport Gwent Dragons, creating a big matchday buzz at the home of the Ospreys, and management at the region hope to replicate that week-in, week-out next season.
Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, said that a lot of thought had gone into creating the value for money packages designed to grow the regular support base at the Liberty Stadium:
"We've looked long and hard at what we could offer our loyal supporters" explained Hore.
"We've had to take into account various factors while setting prices and we've looked at ways that we can reward both existing, long term members and those supporters who may be looking at ways of stepping up their backing for the region.
"Our aim, first and foremost, is to increase the number of people coming to the game week-in, week-out throughout the season. The fantastic turn-out for the Dragons game on Friday evening is a clear indication of the appetite out there to support top class rugby in the region and it's important that we do what we can to tap into this appetite.
"Having the backing of the local community is crucial for the Ospreys, and is important to the players in the team, almost all of whom are from the local community themselves. These are players who grew up in Ospreylia, went to school in the region and learnt the game playing for their local rugby club. For them to take to the pitch every week knowing that they've got the support of thousands of people, from their region would give them an incredible lift, and everything we've done in putting together these packaged is designed to generating that kind of support on a regular basis. It's also important for the members of the squad from outside the region to realise and understand how important the Ospreys are, and the most visible way they can see that is in big crowds at the Liberty.
"No matter who you are and what your budget it is, there is a season membership package for you and with fantastic initiatives like buy one get one free and kids go free, watching first class rugby has never been more affordable, while the additional benefits like a no-strings money off voucher for the club shop, matchday food and beverage deals and an exclusive deals and discount booklet will help to reduce the peripheral costs associated with matchdays and watching the Ospreys. We want to make watching the Ospreys a way of life for families across the region.
"With bigger crowds and the benefit of an improved matchday experience that inevitably comes with it, we can help to ensure that the Ospreys remain at the forefront of rugby, not only in Wales but in the European game. When you invest in a membership you are investing in the future of rugby in the region, ensuring that not only your generation but the future generations will be able to watch top flight rugby at the Liberty Stadium and that some of the children who will today take advantage of a kids go free deal and aspire to one day wear the famous black shirt will be able to achieve their dream. These packages are about the long term sustainability of the Ospreys and we believe that the local rugby community will support us in this aim."
