Last year's champions were out-muscled and out-run in a five-try showing in the semi-final at the Liberty Stadium but Humphreys saw more areas for improvement rather than praise.
Recently crowned European champions Leinster now stand in the way of the Ospreys and a fourth Celtic League title.
The Irishmen will be playing on their home patch of the RDS Arena and Humphreys knows that in order to beat the team which finished ten points ahead of them in the league table, lady luck might have to give them a helping hand.
"When you've got two good teams going up against each other, it's going to be a close game, it's going to be within seven points," said Humphreys.
"Sometimes you need a little bit of luck to go your way but we've got to be in there fighting, fighting hard.
"I think they understand we do have the ability to win but it's going to be a tough game.
"We finished especially well (against Munster), it was great to see the half chances we managed to produce we took.
"But we felt we brought a little bit too much pressure on ourselves in the first half.
"We asked a lot of our defence against Munster and although the defence was outstanding it's not really what we want to be doing on a regular basis."
