Super Saturday (5 May) will see Glasgow Warriors look to seal their place in the RaboDirect PRO12 play-offs by beating Connacht at Firhill (kick-off 7.30pm), in the club's last match in Maryhill before the summer move to Scotstoun Stadium.
Earlier in the day, the Warriors' new home stadium will play host to the inaugural Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, as the HSBC Sevens World Series comes to Scotland's number one city for the first time, bringing its unique mix of top international rugby and a terrific party atmosphere.
The Connacht game has already drawn the biggest ever pre-sale of tickets for a Warriors RaboDirect PRO12 home match outside of the 1872 Cup derby against Edinburgh Rugby, and Weir today encouraged fans to come along to what he believes will be a cracking climax to a memorable day.
The 20-year-old told www.glasgowwarriors.org: "Saturday is going to be a great day for the city of Glasgow; a great day for rugby supporters in the west.
"We've had some top victories at Firhill, and personally I love playing there. The fans are right in front of you and create a great atmosphere. We want a big crowd there to create one last special memory before we move to Scotstoun.
"The stadium is looking fantastic for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, and the whole day has the potential to be very special.
"From a Warriors point of view, we're fully focussed on reaching the play-offs, but we know how tough a battle we're going to get from Connacht. Our recent record against them says it all.
"They're a tough side who have a fantastic team ethic and good coaches. We need to build momentum in the game early on and put the pressure on them. A big crowd would certainly help with that, and it's great to hear tickets are shifting fast."
