But the 23-year-old full-back returned to competitive action last weekend with club side Shannon and is now in contention for Munster's clash with Treviso this weekend.
The Red Army currently sit fourth in the RaboDirect PRO12 table, 15 points behind runaway leaders and arch-rivals Leinster.
But with a number of Irish internationals including Ronan O'Gara and Keith Earls back in contention for this weekend's clash Foley is optimistic about his side's chances.
"The boys were sent back from national camp to train with us at the start of the week.We accommodated that and we will see where that leads us when we travel on Thursday," Foley told the Limerick Leader.
"Felix (Jones) came through fine. He trained fully today. He looked sharp. There was good chat out of him.
"It is great. Having him available is like signing another player. He has not been with us all season, getting injured in a pre-World Cup game and we are delighted to have him back in.
"In relation to Felix (Jones) and the other players coming back from injury, we will decide whether they are involved in the PRO12 fixture against Treviso or for their clubs in the AIL based on their needs."
