And Davies believes that if his players are to secure a RaboDirect PRO12 semi-final come the end of the season, then changes in their mindset are needed.
"I am really disappointed," he said. "There was plenty of endeavour and plenty of effort.
"But what I have told the boys, a lot of them who have come in after not playing for a long time, is that they need to know their roles and they need to execute their roles properly and the skill set that they need.
"And there were far too many players who weren't at the required skill level.
"We took the game to them and I was pleased about that. I thought there were one or two times where we could have had penalties because they were laying over the ball and slowing it up for us.
"But we have got to be able to deal with that as well and we probably didn't do that as well as we should have.
"Every game is vitally important now and Leinster is going to be a tough place to go.
"But these boys have got to grow up quickly and have to learn that there is a responsibility on them because I felt there were a couple of occasions we they didn't know their roles and when they did they didn't execute them properly and they have to be able to step up."
