While James Hook and Mike Phillips departed the region last season and Tommy Bowe is rumoured to be heading back to Ireland, Jones quashed speculation on his own future by signing a new two-year deal with the RaboDirect PRO12 side.
Widely acknowledged as one of world rugby's most destructive scrummagers, the Ospreys will not be able to call on his services during the RBS 6 Nations.
To make matters worse Cai Griffiths is out with a broken arm and Aaron Jarvis has sore ribs so 21-year-old Jo Rees starts at tighthead against Edinburgh in the Friday's RaboDirect PRO12 clash.
But with Jones demonstrating his commitment to the cause, Humphreys is hoping it will have a knock-on effect throughout the club.
"I'm delighted he's staying in Wales," said Humphreys.
"It's a big thing for the Ospreys and Adam is a huge part of the Ospreys.
"He's been here since the very start and it's important that our very good players stay in Wales and we're delighted with that.
"It's a very difficult situation at the moment financially for everyone and it's Adam's decision.
"Adam wanted to stay with the Ospreys which makes it easier.
"If a player wants to go away and chase big money that's their prerogative but credit to Adam - he wanted to stay here and he's cut his cloth accordingly.
"We are obviously down a couple of tight heads with Adam (Jones) being away, Aaron's (Jarvis) got some ribs issues and Cai's (Griffiths) broken his arm so we're down a little bit but we're good other than that.
"Edinburgh are a good attacking team they score lots of tries and we know we'll have our work cut out up there but it'll be a good game of rugby.
"They're a quality outfit but we're going to go up there and give it a good shot."
