The Argentinean second-row arrived in Scotland following his summer move from RC Toulon and will now be monitored by the Edinburgh medical team before being passed fit for training.
Lozada has been ruled out of his side's visit to Ulster on Friday evening as Edinburgh go in search of their first Magners League win of the season.
"Esteban was released from hospital having been assessed for a blow to the head," said an Edinburgh Rugby statement.
He will be closely monitored by the Edinburgh medical staff but, at this stage, he is at home and in good spirits."
Edinburgh's defeat at home to Munster, coupled with their opening weekend loss to the Cardiff Blues, leaves the side just one place off the foot of the table whilst next weekends opponents Ulster are riding high after wins over the Ospreys and Aironi.
