Scarlets want double derby delight

The Round 5 encounter is the Scarlets' second successive all-Welsh fixture following last Friday's impressive win at the Dragons.

And there's no doubting that Rees and Davies would love a similar result this Saturday to the 27-14 win at Rodney Parade in Round 4.

The Scarlets raced into a 21-point first-half lead at the Dragons thanks to a three-try blitz and held out in the second period to secure their third win of the new season.

Nigel Davies' men have clearly put their opening day defeat to Treviso behind them as they look to improve on what was a disappointing season last time out.

"It was a great result", said Rees, after his side registered their third successive win on Dragons soil.

"It was tough with the second half but great to come up there and get the result which we thoroughly deserved.

"It's early days but we're building momentum and looking forward to the Ospreys next week.

"But all derbies are tough. We did the hard graft it the first half and held out in the second."

Centre Davies starred in the derby and scored a brilliant individual try in a man-of-the-match performance before hobbling off with an ankle knock late on.

Davies' attacking prowess and solid defence would have impressed on-looking Wales boss Warren Gatland ahead of the autumn internationals, with the 22-year-old now having scored six tries in four games this term.

"It just opened up for me," said Davies of his latest try.

"It was a bit loose at the time, the gap opened and fortunately I got over the line.

"We have tried to play the Scarlets way. We're enjoying playing that way and it's paying off for us. We're looking good.

"The ankle isn't too bad. I over reacted a bit there! Initially it felt bad but it has numbed a bit now although I looked a bit soft out there!"
