"We're just not as consistent as we need to be," Scrivener told the Scotsman.
"Defence and attack are not separate entities. The game is really fluid now. So if we keep turning the ball over or our set-piece struggles and we keep dropping of tackles, the pressure is on us.
"The margin for error is really small at this level. Our whole game needs to tighten up.
"But we are all really positive about what we are trying to do, and what direction we are moving in."
Edinburgh welcome Munster to Murrayfield this evening looking to end a five-match losing streak in the competition which stretches back to March last season.
Rob Moffat's men topped the Magners League table at the end of the first month of last season's competition, however, and Scrivener is confident that Edinburgh will return to winning ways sooner rather than later.
"Even though we shipped 34 points against Cardiff, I thought that for long periods of that game our structure was good, but there was a couple of crucial turnovers, we lost a try to a driving maul and then there was a 90-metre breakaway score at the end when we were chasing the game," added Scrivener.
"There is nothing wrong with what we are trying to do, but we need to tighten up the accuracy - and that will come."
