The fullback was ruled out of action after suffering the injury during the LV= Cup game against Bath in November, returning to action as a replacement in the recent Magners League clash with Edinburgh. However, he aggravated the condition during his 20 minute appearance off the bench at Murrayfield and now faces surgery to repair the damage.
Ospreys Physio, Chris Towers. said:
"Barry exacerbated the groin problem that had previously kept him out, and as such, he was sent for a scan and to be assessed by a specialist. The verdict was that the best course of treatment for him now is surgical intervention to release the tendons and allow him to get back up and running without further issues. He will undergo surgery as soon as possible."
