Blues not giving up on a Play-Off spot

The Welsh capital outfit currently lie eighth in the league standings, following eight defeats in 13 games so far this term.

The latest of those loses, a 29-20 reverse at home to leaders Leinster, leaves them 11 points adrift of a Play-Off place ahead of Friday's hoem tie with Ulster.

Former Wales and Lions prop Young admits that finishing in the top four is now unlikely but he has told his players to treat every game as a 'Cup Final' as they attempt to achieve that goal.

"In effect, every game we have left in the league this season is going to be a Cup Final for us. We have five games left to play and we have got to win them all," said Young.

"It is very tight in the Magners League and there is all to play for at the top and the bottom. The defeat against Leinster has put us under a lot of pressure.

"To win our five remaining league games we will have to be better than we were against Leinster. We probably also need some of the other teams to drop some points.

"If that happens then we can climb up the table, although with an 11-point gap between us and the Play-Off Zone, it might be too much to ask to get into the top four.

"We'd love to be there, though, and we won't give up."

Next up for the Blues in the Magners League are back-to-back ties with Ulster at the Cardiff City Stadium on March 26th and at Ravenhill on April 3rd, followed by derby games against the Scarlets and Dragons and a final-round tie at home to defending champions Munster.
