Sky's the limit for beaten Warriors

Inspirational back row star Kelly Brown is joining Saracens next season but he has no doubt that the Warriors can surpass this year's semi-final showing next time around.

Glasgow were beaten 20-5 by the Ospreys in the inaugural Magners League Play-Off last weekend as their attempt to become the first Scottish side to be crowned Celtic Kings came to an agonising end.

But while he won't be around to avenge that semi-final defeat in 2010/11, Brown is convinced that Glasgow will continue to move onwards and upwards without him.

"It was very sad that we could not quite get the result we wanted though the players put absolutely everything, our hearts and souls, into it," said Brown.

"The sky is the limit for this group of players.

"Their talent is backed by experience with a pretty-much international pack and a lot of internationals in the back line.

"There is a spine of real, real quality."

Those sentiments were echoed by Glasgow boss Sean Lineen, the man who led the Warriors to a third-place finish in a regular season in which they were always in contention for top honours.

Lineen has been with the club for some seven years and has seen the Warriors go from strength to strength in that time.

And while the finances may not be there to make big-money signings during the off-season, Lineen will be doing everything he can to improve upon what he readily admits has been a special campaign.

"It has been so satisfying to see the players come on this season," said Lineen, who stepped up to the role of Warriors head coach in 2006.

"Of course this season has been a success, when you look at where we have come from.

"We've come a long way from getting a few hundred in a paddock at Hughenden to crowds of 4000 at Firhill.

"It was frustrating, the way the game went, but to stand toe-to-toe with a team like the Ospreys, and being in the game at only 7-5 down well into the second half, is fantastic.

"The players deserve great credit, as do the backroom staff including Rob Holdsworth who spends hour upon hour doing analysis on the rest of the league's teams.

"I've no cash to spend on new players but we'll continue to develop young talent and will be fighting to compete as always come August."
