BOD hopes to give coaches the ideal leaving present

The Dubliners will be losing head coach Michael Cheika and a number of his backroom staff this summer and O'Driscoll is determined to ensure their reign ends on one hell of a high in this weekend's Magners League Grand Final against the Ospreys.

"We'd like to send Cheiks (Michael Cheika), Riff (Alan Gaffney), Whits (Chris Whitaker) and Kurt (McQuilkin) off in style," said O'Driscoll, who played a central role in Leinster's 2008 Magners League winning season, as well as last year's Heineken Cup triumph.

"I'm really looking forward to the Magners League Grand Final against the Ospreys at the weekend.

"The Magners League is our bread and butter in terms of a league format and no one is going to feel short changed if we manage to win our third trophy in three seasons on Saturday.

"Trust me when I say, this matters a great deal to us as players. We have worked hard to get to a final and require one more high quality performance."

Saturday's mouth-watering final is the last club game of the season - a season that begun for O'Driscoll not long after the last one had come to a conclusion.

The Ireland skipper toured South Africa on his third Lions adventure last summer, just weeks after guiding Leinster to European glory.

But while there will be little chance of O'Driscoll taking things easy immediately after Saturday's Grand Final as he prepares to head Down Under with his country, the 31-year-old insists he is still full of enthusiasm and has plenty of gas left in the tank.

"Thankfully the coaches appreciate that we have quite a lot of miles in the legs and so training has been relatively light recently," added O'Driscoll in his Irish Rugby Football Union blog.

"The analysis for the Ospreys match was done last week and we'll have two more training sessions on the Tuesday and Thursday ahead of the match.

"Once the final is over, I'll have a few days off before linking up with the Ireland squad, hopefully still possessing a beaming smile from the weekend."
