Muldoon 'gutted' to see game postponed

The Galway based outfit had been due to welcome the Dragons to the Sportsground on Friday evening but a decision to call the match off was made on Wednesday afternoon after freezing conditions continued to play havoc with preparations.

It is the second successive week in which Muldoon and his team-mates have been unable to ply their trade after the weather also got the better of their January 2 clash with Leinster.

And while employees in plenty of other professions would be glad of another day off work, Muldoon says he is desperate to get back into action.

"I was absolutely gutted to hear that the game was off," said Muldoon.

"We're all itching to get back playing again as it's been a really slow start to the year for us. We've done nothing but train so far in 2010 as our first game of the year against Leinster was also called off.

"We'd been really focused on the Dragons match after the Leinster postponement so to have this one called off as well is even more disappointing.

"A lot of people are quite happy to have time off work because of snow but we're not - we just want to get back playing again."

Connacht currently lie bottom of the Magners League having played a game less than the majority of teams.

Victory over the Dragons could have seen Muldoon and co close the gap on ninth-place Scarlets to just three points but they will now have to wait to go in search of their third victory of the season over Welsh opposition.
