Kellock led Scotland to series success in Argentina over the summer but the giant second row will be one of a number of notable absentees following a knee operation.
Fellow international forwards John Barclay and Johnnie Beattie are also sidelined, while Dan Parks and Kelly Brown have moved on to Cardiff Blues and Saracens respectively.
But while critics are suggesting Sean Lineen's men will struggle to replace such experience, Kellock is confident that the club have plenty of another players ready to step up to the mark.
"We have been lucky to have a fairly consistent squad in recent years," said Kellock, who was named as the captain of the Magners League Dream Team at last week's Magners League Awards ceremony.
"Players move on and it happens. The lads who were young two years ago now have to step up and be experienced in their approach.
"Moray Low at tight-head is developing his leadership both as a player and person, while Richie Vernon has more experience and will aim to take the pressure off the young players who are coming through."
The leadership abilities of the younger generation of Glasgow talent will be given an immediate examination when the Warriors host Leinster in their first match of the new season.
The Dubliners travel to Firhill still smarting from May's Grand Final defeat to the Ospreys and with their heavy contingent of Ireland stars available for selection following their summer tour exploits.
And while Kellock was delighted to secure a top-four finish last season, he admits that repeating the feat this time around will be an even tougher ask.
"It's good to get Leinster first up but there's no easy game in this league," added Kellock.
"It's exciting times and everyone is focused on that first game. We played Wasps at the weekend but we had one eye already on Leinster.
"We had a good season last year and reaching the semi-finals of the Play-Offs was great for us.
"It will be incredibly difficult to repeat that but it's about being in the right place when it comes to the last few games.
"You have to be well managed to be in a position to push on for the play-offs and then the final."
