Thankfully for Grant and co, they don't have to wait too long to get their own back own as Glasgow travel to the capital just seven days after part one of this season's 1872 Cup encounters.
"It's horrible losing those games. It's a horrible feeling," said Grant after Glasgow closed the gap behind Edinburgh to just three Magners League points.
"We certainly could have won that game and know we can win this weekend.
"It's a great thing to be able to have another crack at them next week. We need to look forward now, back at home, take the positives from the first game and get the fire in the belly again for Sunday.
"It's brilliant that we get another shot, and we'll make sure we take it."
Edinburgh led at half-time of Monday's match in Glasgow but a series of defensive slips cost them what could have been a memorable away win.
And Grant insists it was those lapses in concentration rather than anything more substantial that prevented his side from returning home with a derby-day triumph.
"There were some really good hits and tackles going in. The only thing that let us down was the three tries which came from defensive lapses - that killed us," added Grant.
"We wanted to dominate the contact area and impose ourselves defensively. We did that and felt comfortable for most of the game.
"When we had ball we played well…so there's plenty of positives going into next week.
"It was technical lapses that let us down. The edge and the physicality was there: it should be and it was. It'll be there again this week - it's just about getting specific things right."
