But they came crashing down to earth with a bump after being clinically disposed of by the Ospreys who leap-frogged their Welsh rivals into second-place.
But Davies has told the Scarlets they need to see the bigger picture and bounce-back against the Newport Gwent Dragons on New Year's Day.
"We didn't see that coming," said Davies.
"We were full of errors in the middle period of the game and that allowed the Ospreys to build their game. They were clinical with the opportunities that we coughed up to them."
Ill-discipline cost the Scarlets dearly with the Ospreys grabbing two tries while Martin Roberts was in the sin-bin and three tries after Sean Lamont was shown yellow.
"They scored a lot of points during the sin-binning but we weren't accurate," added Davies.
"You need to have precision and accuracy against the top teams. The sin-binnings had an affect but I'm more disappointed in the aspects we could control.
"But we'll put this into perspective. Our season is going well we're still in all competitions and have every thing to play for.
"We have to use this as a springboard going into the Dragons game. We have to keep our heads up. We were out-played, out-performed and we let ourselves down. We have to show we are better than this against the Dragons."
