McFadden had been making his senior Ireland debut in the Thomond Park clash on Friday night but the game didn't end as he would have wanted.
Having appeared in 14 of Leinster's 20 Magners League games on their way to a Grand Final appearance, McFadden had impressed the Irish hierarchy and was set to continue his development on the three-match tour Down Under.
Although unlikely to start the Test matches against the All Blacks and the Wallabies, McFadden would more than likely have been involved in the game against New Zealand Maori on June 18.
McFadden will now have to wait until November at the earliest before winning his first full cap or adding to his one non-cap appearance for his country.
Fortunately for Leinster, he will be back in action in between six to eight weeks, meaning he will be more than ready for the start of the new Magners League campaign.
