And while the club season may have ended in disappointment with semi-final defeat to the Ospreys, Kellock's summer tour of Argentina with Scotland got off to the perfect start.
The Glasgow lock captained his country in the absence of clubmate Chris Cusiter as Scotland inflicted the Pumas' first-ever defeat in Tucuman on Saturday night.
But while the Glasgow giant was keen to savour the moment, he was quick to point out that improvements will need to be made if his side are to make it back-to-back wins next weekend.
"It was a very enjoyable game for me - it was fantastic," said Kellock, who has won 25 caps for Scotland and made more than 60 Magners League appearances for the Warriors.
"I think Dan Parks kicked very well and although we conceded two tries, I think we defended very well in the game.
"But I think we have to make more of our try-scoring opportunities," he added in reference to the fact that all Scotland's points came from the boot of Dan Parks in the 24-16 win.
"In rugby you have to score tries to get five points and you get only three from penalties so that is our biggest task for next week's game.
"We know it will not be easy at all and next week's game will be much more difficult. We know Argentina will get better during this week.
"Maybe they will get more physical, but we'll try to do our best again. We'll try to secure back-to-back wins."
