This is in contrast to their Magners League form which sees them sit just a point behind leaders Munster in the table with four victories to their name already this season, but Young is confident the Blues will improve.
"I don't think any team will go through a whole season playing as they want to in every game," said Young.
"We were playing a quality side in Castres who very rarely lose at home. We will get better as the season goes on, I am sure of that.
"I think at this stage last season we had just come through three or four losses.
"We are not playing anything like we know we can but we have only lost two.
Yes, we know there is work to be done, but I don't think we're a million miles off it."
The Welsh region, return to Magners League action on Friday night as they host the Scarlets in a Welsh derby fixture.
