The 27-year-old Edinburgh centre played last played for his country in Australia almost a year ago and was overlooked by recently departed coach Matt Williams. But he has emerged as a leading contender to fill the problematic inside-centre berth - where Hugo Southwell was asked to play without success - having been handed his chance by his Edinburgh coach of five years.
Di Rollo has been in fine form this season, albeit at outside-centre, and Hadden believes he has the ability to open up defences. Edinburgh full-back Southwell and Glasgow's Dan Parks are also included despite disappointing RBS 6 Nations campaigns.
Hadden said: ``We have picked the best 30 players available to us at present. The coaches' meeting yesterday to discuss selection went well. It was very constructive and there is a lot of excitement among us. We're really looking forward to getting stuck in.''
The new coaching team are without Scotland's three Lions - Gordon Bulloch, Chris Cusiter and Simon Taylor - but tour reject Chris Paterson is included.
Glasgow's highly-rated forward Euan Murray is also among the 30-man squad and is in line to make a belated first international appearance in his favoured number three jersey. The youngster was set for Six Nations selection under Williams before receiving an eight-week suspension for stamping in a Celtic League game last November.
Hadden is looking for a replacement for retired stalwart Tom Smith in the front row and although Allan Jacobsen, Craig Smith and Gavin Kerr have not taken their chances, they too will join up with the rest of the squad.
Rob Russell, Graeme Morrison, Scott Gray, Craig Smith, Scott Macleod, Simon Danielli and Donnie Macfadyen are out injured.
Edinburgh's Nathan Hines is unavailable for family reasons but remains very much central to the coaches' thoughts, while Borders' Ross Ford was not chosen in order to concentrate on the forthcoming IRB Under-21 World Championship in Argentina.
