Hinton, a 26-year-old stand-off and full back, kicked the winning penalty goal in Bedford's 14-13 victory in the Powergen Shield final against Plymouth Albion at Twickenham on Saturday. His season's tally now stands at 352 points.
Before joining Bedford in 2002 Hinton was with Moseley and Worcester. While at Moseley he played for the English National Divisions XV against the 2001 Australian touring team.
"Leigh Hinton has been exceptional in the English first division as top-scorer in that league. He will be a valuable addition to our squad," the coach remarked.
Roberts has signed for two years and Hinton for one. They join five new signings previously announced - Craig Hamilton from Newcastle Falcons, Tim Barker from Ulster, Colin Shaw and Steve Swindall from Glasgow Hawks, and Ben Prescott from Aberdeen GSFP.
