Returning to action on the pitch we can look forward to a fantastic Festive season of local derbies attracting record crowds - so make sure you have booked your tickets early - followed by a bumper New Year as the tournament heads towards the play-off competition to find the 2010 champions.
The three month period at the start of the New Year is going to be vital for those teams wanting to break into the play-off zone and stay in the hunt for a semi-final slot. This year's Magners League is tougher than ever before and the fact that 14 of the 35 games in the opening seven rounds were won or lost by seven or less points shows that this season the matches are get tighter and more intense. However on average the Magners League is providing more tries per game than either the Guinness Premiership or the French Top 14.
At the start of this round Leinster, Edinburgh. Glasgow Warriors and Ulster occupied the play-off zone, the top four rankings that would guarantee a place in the play-off semi-finals, with the prospect of an all-Irish (Leinster v Ulster), and an all-Scottish (Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors) encounter. Edinburgh have maintained a top four spot for 6 consecutive weeks, however with just two match points separating the teams lying in second to seventh in the table, it will be interesting to see who claims one of the coveted top four places at the end of this round.
