Blues set to face Aussies

The Wallabies have never beaten the Cardiff club side in seven previous visits to the Welsh capital and they were beaten by the Ospreys when they faced a Welsh region for the first time in 2006.

The game comes four days before Wales tackle the Australians at the Millennium Stadium, which means the Blues are likely to be without their 2009 British & Irish Lions, Jamie Roberts, Gethin Jenkins, Martyn Williams and Leigh Halfpenny, who are expecteds to be included in the Wales squad for their four November internationals.

But Blues chief executive Rob Norster says everyone at the club is thrilled at the prospect of meeting a national team once again.

"The opportunity for our team to play international opposition at our new home is naturally one to relish. Having personally played my part in the proud history of Cardiff RFC against the Wallabies, I understand how prestigious such occasions can be," said Norster.

"I'm certain this momentous fixture will capture the imagination for many, as well as, provide a great opportunity for us to celebrate this season's new beginning. This is a great and affordable chance for supporters of all ages to see such illustrious visitors clash with our team in a special celebratory occasion during the final week of their European tour".

The Wallabies' tour of the UK and Ireland will see them aiming for a Grand Slam as they play England (Twickenham, November 7), Ireland (Croke Park, November 15), Scotland (Murrayfield, November 21) and Wales (Millennium Stadium, November 28).

The Australians first met Cardiff RFC on 28 December, 1908 and lost 24-8 at Cardiff Arms Park. The Blue and Blacks followed up with wins in 1947, 1957, 1966, 1975 and 1984, when they beat a team that completed a Grand Slam in the Test matches.

Tickets will go on general sale to the public from 9.00am on Monday, 26 October. Prices are £20 for adults, £40 for family tickets (2 juniors 2 adults) in the Family Stand. Juniors and £10 for Juniors and Students.
